Most definately, crusty snow is very bad for them and deep fresh snow is what they prefer if they need to snow roost,...but dense spruce trees are even petter for them.

So what have you done to prepare for the upcoming season?,....I've been shooting sporting clay league the last 8 weeks and am going to The Waukesha 200 this sunday 50 rounds at sporting clays, 5-stand, trap and skeet!

Yes definetly it is a fluid and dynamic environment there are many factors that effect grouse populations. A bad storm in spring during brooding could effect populations for several years.
