How can I keep my hunting dog conditioned over the summer? I live in Wisconsin and have an English Pointer that is 6 years old. Any help would be appreciated.

The best thing is to just get him out regularly,....english pointers were breed to work with hunters on horseback so they generally range far and have LOTS of energy. Make sure you have plenty of water with you and generally you will need more conditioning than an english pointer will!

I've been getting him out early in the morning. I was worried about him getting too hot, but he LOVES the early mornings. He seems like he was made to be out in the hotter weather. Haven't done much the last couple of weeks...it's been 80 degrees even first thing in the morning. Not to worry though, hunting season is just around the corner.
