I have a pen of 500 pheasants. How do you water them in the winter. They need over 20 feet of watering space for that many birds. Will you get by with less in the winter? Was wanting something other than the round chicken water with a heated base. Would a rain gutter with a heated cord in it work? Would you put the water in a shed or spread them out all over the pen. Pen is 96 X 144 feet? I wood like to keep these birds till spring before I turn them loose but I donn't,t want a $300. ele. bill. Any ideas , pictures would be nice. First time at raising birds. They are all hen pheasant if that make a deference. Thanks for any info!!!

We use 3 gallon black rubber water pans. One 3 gal pan will cover 100 birds, so if you have 500 birds 5 pans would be enough. Fill them each day, if they have ice in them, dump the ice and refill. Once you have 1" of snow or more on the ground no need to water, the birds will pick away at the snow. Not sure where you live, hopefully you get snow.
