What plays a bigger role in stimulating pheasants to breed? Day length or temperature?

Any other factors that come into play?

The amount of light should have a bigger factor. I'm also a big believer in moon phases affecting breeding.

On those lines, could a late snow melt bring the birds into production earlier as well? It is certainly brighter outside with snow on the ground.

It actually depends on the breed,...day length is the primary stimulant,...but some breeds or more responsive then others,...and I believe that the less responsive breeds have a secondary trigger to come into production which Is usually temperature based. From a species survival point genetically it does not make sense to go into production it all conditions are not condusive to the species survival.

So temperature can be a secondary trigger. How much of a role does temperature acutally play in bringing birds into prodcution?
