How many different types or breeds of pheasants are hatched in the United States?

Wow,... there are a lot of different breeds especially when you get into the ornamentals. Most producers only due a couple to maybe a dozen. If you get the book "Pheasants of the World" you would be amazed at the variations!

Does one breeder survive better than others upon release?

Each breed of pheasant is adapted to survive best in a particular habitat,...so yes a particular breed will survive better than a different breed of pheasant in a particular part of the country.

Midwest vs Southwest vs plains states one particular breed would survive better than another in those different habitats.
